Inspired by the galvanizing spirit of Ubu in Alfred Jarry’s Ubu Roi who exclaims at every turn, “De par ma chandelle verte!” we are commited to the creation of intellectually engaging and visually stimulating theater in French.

A visit by the Théâtre de la Chandelle Verte provides a unique opportunity to enjoy a live, professionally-staged performance in French of a literary masterpiece. All of our performances are followed by an interactive audience talkback and accompanied by a pedagogical dossier and an optional workshop.

A dramatic interpretation of a series of writings by women over seven centuries, including texts by Marie de France, Christine de Pisan, Marguerite de Navarre, Madame de Lafayette, Madame de Sevigne, Olympe de Gouges, Camille Claudel, Colette, and Simone Schwartz-Bart.
